ABOUT

Welcome to BikeTrails@Hockley!

Mountain Bike enthusiasts can enjoy 10.5 kilometers of trails that wind around through Hockley Valley Resort. Our single track cross country mountain bike trails are built for seasoned riders looking for a physical and technical challenge in the beautiful hills of the Headwaters.

Currently 9.1 kilometers of trail is open with an additional 1.4 kilometers opening in August of 2022.

The main Resort Trail which is made up of the West Trail (2.2 km), the East Trail (5 km) and the Winery Loop (1.9km) is open.

The trail direction alternates daily letting riders experience the trails' unique design features from one day to the next, keeping the riding experience fresh and exciting. Trail features include, scenic views of the Hockley Valley, four ‘Mine Shaft’-inspired tunnels that allow riders to pass under our golf cart paths, and a variety of riding terrain: open meadows, cedar bush, hardwood forests, and shrub groves, all with challenging climbs and exhilarating descents.

The Lookout Trail (1.4 km) is currently under construction, please see trail map for details.

In the winter months, Fat Biking, Snowshoeing and Cross-Country Skiing trails are available. Our specialized groomer with classic track setter for skiers allows you to continue to enjoy the great outdoors. Fat Bikes and Snowshoes use portions of the 10.5 km's of single track trails. The groomed trails are routed around our golf course providing spectacular views.

TRAILS & SAFETY

  • All riders must adhere to the Mountain Biker’s Responsibility Code.

  • Helmets are mandatory while riding on the property.

  • All of our trails are well marked. Riders are to remain on the marked bike trails and obey all directional signage.

  • Trail Patrol can be contacted at 519-942-0951 during operating hours to report any issues or infractions.

The Bike Trails @ Hockley are developed to accommodate intermediate and advanced mountain bike riders. Please be aware that while our current trails consist of some flat sections with mostly rolling trails for those that like a little bit of up and down, steeper hill climbs are present. Riders should have the proper skill level and physical ability before purchasing their trail pass.

All of our trails are ONE WAY. We ask that you still bike with care and to be aware of corners, but there are fewer incidents on one way trails. Do not stop in areas where you are not visible from both directions and where you will block the path of the trail for other riders.

Trails are cleared daily of any debris, however always be alert should branches or rocks be knocked down by bikers before you.

We ask that all riders respect others on the trail and pass with care. A polite call of “on your left” as you go by a slower rider is the best way to pass.

Please watch for hikers on the Bruce Trail as it crosses the bike trail in a few places. Signage is in place for hikers to yield to bikers, but please proceed with caution at trail crossings.

EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS

  • Mountain bikes with suspension and knobby tires are recommended.

  • All bikes MUST have working brakes (no coaster brakes).
